Vacuum Blood Collection Sequence
Vacuum blood collection should be carried out according to the order of different
blood vessels, in order to avoid cross-contamination of additives between test tubes, so as not to affect the test results. The order of blood drawing is as follows :
1. Red cap
2. Orange cover
3. Golden cover
4. Green cover
5. Light green lid
6. Purple cover
7. Light blue lid
8. Black lid
9. Grey lid
Standardizing Blood Drawing
The purpose of standardizing blood drawing sequence is to ensure the quality of specimen collection and reduce the interaction between different test tubes. According to the regulations and experience in the health industry standard WS/T225-2002 "Collection and Treatment of Blood Samples for Clinical Chemical Examination", it is suggested that the blood collection sequence of vacuum blood sampling vessels is as follows:
1. Blood collection sequence of blood culture bottle (anaerobic preferred)
2. Additive free tube (red, golden yellow tube)
3. Coagulation tube (blue)
4. Other anticoagulant tube (black-green-purple-gray)
Each blood vessel color corresponds to the examination function is different. The blue tubes are for coagulation, the black tubes are for sedimentation, the red tubes are for routine and biochemistry, and the gray tubes are for blood sugar, and that's generally the order. It is recommended that an empty stomach is needed before going to the hospital for blood drawing. It should be emphasized that: In any case, the routine blood tube should be collected in the second tube, which is related to the blood clotting mechanism. When there is blood culture, the routine blood tube is the third tube. Because the collection of blood culture specimens is strictly aseptic, the blood culture tube is the first tube.
